Inquiry from Switerzland on ultra-thin acrylic wall light sign for Expo
On November 18, we received an inquiry on our whatsapp +8618033025232 from a Swiss customer regarding an ultra-thin acrylic wall light sign, as shown below:
For our next expo we would like to create custom lightboxes similar to the attached picture. Our lightboxes would need to be 35 cm in length and 22 cm wide,
and much thinner than the stated example. Is that something feasible for you?
Communicate with customer about details
From the customer’s inquiry, we understood that he was looking for an ultra-thin lightbox sign. We therefore asked whether he specifically wanted a slim version, and he confirmed yes.
This customer then asked whether this ultra-tin acrylic wall light sign could be as thin as 1 cm or not, mentioning that last year at an expo they used 4 cm thick acrylic panels, but those were not illuminated.
He said he requested 4 ultra slim lighted acrylic signs for wall mounting and asked whether these signs would be plug-in or battery-powered. He mentioned a battery-powered option would be better, but a plug-in version was also acceptable.
He also sent us photos of the acrylic panels they used last year for reference, explaining that this year’s version should be similar in style and graphics, but with added illumination.
We replied that it would be no problem and that we could customize this ultra-thin acrylic illuminated sign for him. We also asked whether he had original artwork file for this thin illuminated acryilc wall sign, and the customer said he would provide it shortly.
He then asked whether we could make a sample before placing the complete order of 4 pieces and requested pricing for one sample and for 4 signs.
Price quote and artwork and proof
After asking this customer to provide his shipping address information, we quoted a very competitive price.
He was very satisfied with the price and said he would start working on the artwork immediately.
He also asked about the shipping time, and we replied that it would take 6–10 days.
2 days later, we followed up to ask whether his artwork file were ready.
The customer replied a few days later (as it was during the Western Christmas period) and sent us a PDF file.
After our designer reviewed this file, she found that the resolution was fine, but the text had not been converted to outlines, so it could not be used for printing the graphic for this thin acryic lighted sign.
Our sales team immediately informed the customer of this issue. He asked his designer to convert the text to outlines and then resent the PDF file. The updated file was now ok.
We then made a proof for this customer to confirm and pointed out that, due to the manufacturing process (to conceal the internal LEDs), there would be an 18 mm wide gray border around the edge of this ultra-thin LED acrylic sign.
This border appears white when the sign is off and gray when it is illuminated. We asked whether this was acceptable, and the customer confirmed that it was.
Invoice and payment
At this stage, we asked the customer providing full shipping address details and prepared the invoice.
He asked how to make the payment, and we asked whether a bank transfer would be acceptable. He confirmed that it was.
Two days later, he replied that the payment had been made and said the funds would arrive within 12 hours.
He also asked whether we could send this ultra-thin acrylic wall light sign photos for confirmation before shipping.
The payment did indeed arrive within 12 hours. Since we use a local European bank account, the transfer was very fast.
Production, sign pictures before shipment
Once we received the payment, we immediately informed the customer that production of his sign sample had been arranged and product photos would be sent for confirmation before shipment.
As the customer mentioned that this thin light up wall sign would be wall-mounted, we added two transparent hanging holes on the back of the sign and asked him to confirm whether this solution was acceptable. The customer confirmed that it was.
After the thin LED sign was completed, we took two photos and sent them to the customer for confirmation: one photo with the sign powered on and one with the sign powered off, so that he could see how the graphic looked in both conditions.
The customer was very satisfied after reviewing the photos and asked when we could ship the sign.
Since it was already evening when we confirmed with him, we replied that the shipment could be made the next day.
Packing and shipment
That same evening, our workers carefully packed the ultra-thin acrylic wall light sign using protective cushioning materials and a carton box.
The next morning, we contacted UPS and shipped the package. UPS delivery was very fast, and the customer received the package in just 4 days.
Sign sample received
The customer said he was very satisfied with the sample and would proceed with a complete order for four signs.
Conclusion
